Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions to scraps off pre-release screenings of new films

For more than 20 years, Karan Johar has been making films under Dharma Productions. The upcoming films produced under the banner are Jigra and Dhadak 2, two significant forthcoming movies from the production company, are coming soon. Dharma Productions has decided to stop pre-release screenings of its upcoming projects, as the release date of the Alia Bhatt starrer draws near.

Dharma Productions, led by Karan Johar, has released a statement about the most recent ruling on pre-release screenings. The production company wrote to the media saying it has “unanimously decided” to cease pre-release viewing of the film.

“As we continue to evolve, we find ourselves at a juncture where we must adapt and innovate our approach. After much deliberation, we’ve unanimously decided to forgo pre-release screenings for our upcoming films,” mentioned the statement.

The decision was described as “difficult” and as a “necessary step” by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions to make sure that the audience saw those movies the way “they were meant to be experienced”.

“Having said that, we understand the importance of timely reviews and the role they play in the success of our films. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting press screenings in the first half of the release day for each of our movies,” added the statement further.

Call Me Bae, the debut series of Ananya Panday, was recently produced by Dharma Productions on Amazon Prime Video
