Karnataka team reached semi-finals in Vijay Hazare Trophy, Baroda lost in a thrilling match, Padikkal's century worked.

Sports Desk: Karnataka has made it to the semi-finals by defeating Baroda in the quarterfinal match of Vijay Hazare Trophy organized by BCCI. Karnataka, playing first, scored 281 runs thanks to a century by Devdutt Padikkal. In reply, Baroda team could score only 276 runs with the help of Shashwat's century. Baroda lost this thrilling match by 5 runs.

In the quarterfinal match of Vijay Hazare Trophy being played at Motibagh Cricket Ground, Vadodara, Baroda won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Karnataka did not have a good start. Team captain Mayank Agarwal returned to the pavilion after scoring 6 runs. There was a partnership of 133 runs between Devdutt Padikkal and Anish KV for the second wicket. Meanwhile, Anish completed his half-century. However, he continued on his personal score of 52.

After that Devdutt Padikkal completed his century. The third wicket fell on the score of 172. Devdutt scored 102 runs. During this period, 15 fours and 2 sixes came from his bat. After that he was out due to scoring runs fast. Apart from that, Smaran scored 28 runs, KL Srijit scored 28 runs, Abhinav Manohar scored 21 runs, Shreyas Gopal scored 16 runs, Prasidh scored 12 unbeaten runs. Whereas for Baroda, Raj Limbani took 3 wickets, Sheth took 3 wickets, Krunal Pandya took 1 wicket and Meriwala took 1 wicket.

In reply, Baroda team, chasing the target, scored 276 runs after losing all the wickets in 49.5 overs. Shashwat Rawat played an inning of 104 runs for Baroda. Atit Sheth scored 56, Krunal Pandya 30, Bhargav Bhatt 20, Bhanu Paniya scored 22 runs. For Karnataka, Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets, Kaushik took 2 wickets, Abhilash Shetty took 2 wickets and Shreyas Gopal took 2 wickets.

Opener batsman of both the teams scored a century

In this match, the opener batsman of Karnataka and Baroda team scored a century. Devdutt Padikkal played an inning of 102 runs for Karnataka. Whereas Shashwat Rawat scored 104 runs for Baroda. Rawat played a century facing 126 balls. During this, he hit 9 fours and 1 six.
