Karthik Sharma became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history, Chennai bought him for so many crores

New Delhi: After Aakib Nabi Dar and Prashant Veer, a new name has emerged – Kartik Sharma. In the IPL 2026 auction, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14.20 crore. Karthik Sharma’s base price was only Rs 30 lakh and the bid of Rs 14.20 crore has made him the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history.

The first bid on Karthik Sharma was made by Mumbai Indians, but after that there was a fierce battle between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants to buy him. After LSG pulled out, Chennai Super Kings took on Kolkata Knight Riders. Finally, CSK bought 19-year-old Karthik Sharma by bidding Rs 14.20 crore. Karthik Sharma plays for Rajasthan Royals in Indian domestic cricket. He is known for hitting big shots and bats at a tremendous strike rate. He has scored 133 runs at a staggering strike rate of 160 for Rajasthan in 5 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 season. One specialty of Karthik Sharma is that he can play the role of a finisher while hitting big shots in the death overs.

Earned name for Rajasthan at Under-14 and then Under-16 level also. He has scored 334 runs in 12 matches so far in his T20 career. His T20 strike rate is around 163. Since Karthik brings hitting power along with being a wicketkeeper, he could solve the problems of many teams for the next season.
