Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Captain India’ set for Independence Day 2027 release

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is set to headline the upcoming aviation drama Captain India, which has officially locked its theatrical release for August 13, 2027.

The film will hit cinemas during the Independence Day weekend, a prime release window for big-budget Hindi films.

Captain India marks Kartik Aaryan’s first collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Shimit Amin, known for his critically and commercially successful projects. The director is making a return to feature filmmaking after a long gap of around 17 years.

The project is being jointly developed by T-Series, Baweja Studios, and Midnight Chai Films. It was initially announced in 2021 but faced several delays before moving into active development.

According to industry reports, pre-production work including location scouting has already been completed. The film is expected to go on floors in the second quarter of 2026.

The story is reportedly inspired by real-life events and revolves around a high-risk aviation rescue mission, with Kartik Aaryan playing a pilot. However, makers have not officially revealed full plot details yet.

The film will be shot across multiple locations, including India and Morocco, indicating a large-scale production with significant visual scope and action sequences.

Written and produced by Harman Baweja, the project is being positioned as a patriotic action drama, combining emotional storytelling with high-intensity aerial sequences.

With its Independence Day release slot and strong creative team, Captain India is already being seen as one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of 2027.
