Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said the Kashmir Marathon will be held every year and will become one of the top athletic events in the world.
“I congratulate all the athletes who completed their races,” Mr Abdullah told reporters here today. He expressed hope that Kashmir Marathon will become one of the top athletic events in the world in the coming years. He said, “I did not expect that I would be able to complete the 21 kilometer half marathon. “I had run 12 or 13 kilometers so far in my life, but I was encouraged by the athletes who ran alongside me.”
Shri He said, “I congratulate the Tourism Department and the officials associated with it for organizing such a good event of Kashmir Marathon.”
The Chief Minister said, “I am thankful to the people of Srinagar for coming forward to encourage the runners. I am hopeful that Kashmir Marathon will become one of the top competitions in the world.” He said, “I hope that marathon will be organized every year in Kashmir Valley and the name of Kashmir will also be known with the famous athletes of the world.”
Actor Suniel Shetty told reporters, “It was an incredible experience and the idea of organizing the International Kashmir Marathon was brilliant.
