Kashmiri batsman who entered the playing field wearing a helmet with Palestinian flag was punished, management removed him from the team

Jammu. Controversy has arisen over a cricketer’s use of the Palestinian flag during a domestic league match in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir player Furkan Bhatt had put a Palestinian flag on his helmet. When the matter heated up, the batsman was thrown out of the team by the tournament organizers and the team management.

The matter is of 31st December afternoon. During the tournament, the match was taking place between JK XI Kings and Jammu Trail Blazers at the ground located at KC Sports Club in Jammu. When JK-11 batsman Furkan Bhatt came out to bat, there was a Palestinian flag on his helmet. Meanwhile, some players present on the field raised objections. Seeing the possibility of the dispute escalating, the tournament management and team management intervened. It was decided to drop batsman Furkan from the team. This entire matter became a topic of discussion on social media. Some people brought the matter to the notice of Domana police.

Police called player Furkan Bhatt and tournament organizers to the police station for questioning. He was interrogated for about two hours. According to police officials, action is being taken under the law keeping all aspects in mind. According to the police, the tournament started on December 29. Furkan and league organizer Zahid Bhat have been interrogated.

SHO of Domana police station Varuneshwar Singh said that this came to light through social media. Cricketers, tournament organizers and other players were interrogated at the venue. No case has been registered against the cricketer yet. Investigation is being done.

JKCA does not recognize such tournaments
Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) said that this happened during a local league match in Jammu. The player belongs to a tournament which is not recognized by the Association. JKCA administrative member Brigadier Anil Gupta (retired) said, this league is not recognized by JKCA.

It is understood that the player was not registered with JKCA or any of its affiliated bodies in the state. This is the second league in Jammu and Kashmir to come under the scanner. Organizers of the privately run Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) have been accused of fleeing Srinagar after cheating players, match officials, broadcasters and hotel owners.
