Dehradun: The doors of Kedarnath Temple will be opened for devotees from 8 am today, 22nd April. On this auspicious occasion of the beginning of the summer journey, the temple is being decorated grandly with flowers, due to which a festive atmosphere is created in the entire Dham. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will also be present on the occasion of opening of doors.

This year’s Kedarnath Yatra is considered to be special in many ways as well as challenging, because after heavy snowfall, the route has been prepared for the devotees by cutting the big glaciers frozen on the roads.

Registration of record number of devotees

More than 7 lakh devotees have already registered for the Kedarnath Yatra this year, which is much higher than previous years. In view of such a large number, the administration has made extensive preparations regarding security and arrangements. Medical camps have been set up at every major stop on the Yatra route, where teams of doctors and health workers will be deployed 24 hours.

This time due to heavy snowfall in winter, large glaciers had accumulated at many places on the Kedarnath route. A special campaign was launched to remove them and the roads were made safe. This is the reason why this time’s journey is also being considered challenging. The administration has advised passengers to exercise caution and use only designated routes.

Strict security arrangements

The Uttarakhand government and local administration have made elaborate arrangements to make the journey safe. Police forces, SDRF and other emergency services have been deployed at various places. CCTV surveillance, help desk and control rooms have also been made on the yatra route. State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will be present at Kedarnath temple on the occasion of opening of doors. Under his leadership, the government is paying special attention to making this journey organized and safe.

This time a major change has been made in the Kedarnath Yatra. The temple committee has completely banned carrying mobile phones inside the temple premises. Devotees will neither be able to take mobile phones inside nor will they be able to record photos or videos. According to the temple committee, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the sanctity of the temple and the convenience of the devotees. Strict legal action will be taken against those who violate the rules.

Chardham Yatra has started and the doors of Gangotri Dham have been opened on 19th April on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Devotees are reaching there in large numbers and the entire valley is immersed in a devotional atmosphere.
