Home Cooling Tips: As soon as summer starts, ACs start running in homes, offices, schools and colleges. These days the mercury is continuously rising, due to which one has to face severe sunlight and heat when going out. Rich people and people living in cities use ACs and expensive coolers to escape the heat, but economically weak people and people living in villages are often unable to afford them, due to which they become vulnerable to heatstroke and heat. In this article, we will tell you about some such easy home remedies, with the help of which you can keep your house cool. By adopting these home remedies, the house will remain cool like AC.
How to protect the house from sunlight?
These measures are not of today or yesterday, but people of old also used them to keep their houses cool. In summer, due to strong sunlight, the temperature of the rooms and the entire house increases significantly, especially from 10 am to 4 pm when the sun rays are the strongest. To avoid this, first of all put light colored thick curtains or ‘blinds’ on all the windows and doors. White or light colored clothes reflect the sun’s rays and prevent them from coming inside the house. Apart from this, get white or reflective paint done on the roof during the summer season. Due to this, the heat inside the house is reduced by 70 to 80 percent. Applying ‘Khas ki Chilman’ (Chick) on the balcony or windows is also a great option for coolness.
Cross ventilation and night flushing
During the summer season, when the temperature drops at night, open the doors and windows of the house so that ‘cross ventilation’ can occur. Leave them open from 5 to 8 in the morning and close when the sun rises. By doing this, the cool night air fills the rooms and normalizes the temperature and provides coolness. Also, install an exhaust fan in the kitchen and bathroom. These expel the hot air inside and help in maintaining coolness inside the rooms.
plant plants at home
By planting plants like snake plant, aloe vera and money plant inside the house, the air remains pure and cool. Also, plant as many trees and plants as possible on the roof, because their natural shade protects the house from heat. To reduce the heat, spreading wet cloth or sackcloth on the floor is also very beneficial. Apart from this, an easy way is to keep a bowl of ice or a cold water bottle in front of the table fan, which will give you cool air like AC.

Do heat producing activities at night
Minimize use of machines like oven, gas stove and washing machine during the day, because the heat emanating from them increases the temperature of the house. Try to prepare food early in the morning or in the cooler hours of the night. Keep unnecessary lights in the house off and replace old yellow bulbs with LED bulbs, which get less hot. Apart from this, to keep yourself cool, wear cotton clothes and use cotton sheets on bed also.
