Information related to first aid: Dr. Surendra Singh, doctor of Vikas Clinic, Lucknow, says that burn accidents increase significantly during the time of Diwali. In most of the cases of this type of accident, the victims are children and youth, who burn firecrackers carelessly. Apart from this, there are many cases of fire caused by lamps. In such accidents or burn accidents due to any reason, if the burn is not treated immediately and properly, then the effects of the burn can not only be serious but the risk of infection also increases.

He says that not only in view of the possibility of an accident on Diwali, but also in general, all the members of the house should have knowledge about first aid in case of burn. Apart from this, a first aid kit should also be kept ready at home on Diwali. It should contain essential items to treat burns like antiseptic cream, bandages and sterilized bandages. The following steps should be followed in the first aid of burns.

Wash with cold water: In case of burn, first wash the affected area with cold water. Along with providing relief to the skin, it also reduces irritation.

Apply aloe vera gel: Applying aloe vera gel on the burnt area provides relief from swelling and pain. Apart from this, it provides coolness to the skin.

Keep a designated place for throwing lit sparklers or other firecrackers so that no one gets burnt by the hot firecrackers.

Keep a bucket filled with water at the place where firecrackers are being burnt.

If firecrackers are being burnt in a crowded place, then fire extinguishers should also be kept nearby so that immediate help can be provided in case of emergency.
