Keir Starmer Last Speech House of Commons: Keir Starmer addressed the House of Commons for the last time as Prime Minister of Britain. He said that he is proud that he is leaving the country in a better condition than the one in which he took charge. Starmer resigned from his post on 22 June.

During Question Time in Parliament, Labor MP and Starmer’s close ally Caroline Harris said that when Starmer took over the leadership of the party, very few people had confidence that he would be able to bring about the necessary changes. Today, thanks to his leadership, children are growing up in a more just Britain and the country stands strong on the global stage.

What did Starmer say in his last address?

Harris said Starmer’s decency and courage were consistently on display throughout his tenure. In response to his words, Starmer expressed his gratitude and said, this will be my last reply from the dispatch box. He said, every Prime Minister knows that when he takes this responsibility, one day he will have to hand it over to someone else. That day has now come for me.

Starmer further said that this is the end of his political journey. He said, in six years we have traveled from the historic defeat of 2019 to the historic victory of 2024 and after two years in the government, I am leaving the country in a better position than before. I am proud of all our achievements.

Starmer thanked his colleagues

He thanked the Speaker of Parliament, Parliament staff and people working in his constituency offices for their cooperation and hard work. He also expressed his gratitude to the civil service officers, his political team and party colleagues.

Starmer said that his team supported him in every situation and was ready to face every challenge for him. He praised his party’s MPs and said that he was proud of all of them. He also assured full support to his successor and wished good health and happy future to all the members of Parliament.
