Kerala Budget: Vision of ‘New Kerala’, CM Satheesan focused on increasing investment including Mission Samudra in the budget
Kerala Budget 20226-27: While presenting the budget for the financial year 2026-27, the Kerala government has made many big announcements for the development of the state. Presenting the budget in the Assembly, Chief Minister VD Satheesan said the government aims to create a ‘new Kerala’ where special emphasis will be laid on inclusive growth, modern infrastructure and increasing investment.

During the budget speech, the Chief Minister acknowledged that the state is currently facing challenges like financial pressure, increasing liabilities and inflation. Despite this, the government has announced many new schemes towards long-term development.
In this sequence, the government has announced the launch of ‘Mission Samudra’. A provision of Rs 400 crore has been made for this ambitious scheme. The government aims to strengthen the port-based economy and make Kerala a major hub for global maritime trade. It is expected that this will create new employment opportunities and also strengthen the economy of the state.
Rs 200 crore has been allocated in the budget to develop aviation and logistics hubs around the four airports in the state. The government believes that this will boost trade, transport and industrial activities.
The government will also launch a ‘data-based Invest Kerala Cell’ to attract investments. This cell will work to identify and remove obstacles related to business, so that new industries can be established in the state and investors can get a better environment.

The Chief Minister said that the government’s aim is not only to deal with the current economic challenges, but also to make Kerala among the leading states of the country in terms of development, investment and employment in the coming years. The schemes announced in the budget are being considered as a big step taken in this direction.
