A 10th class student was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man in Malappuram, resulting in her pregnancy. The accused Nikhil, resident of Vettam, Tirur, has been arrested by the police under the POCSO Act.

According to reports, the victim's family came to know about her pregnancy when she was admitted to the hospital due to health issues. The girl had allegedly hidden the incident from her family.

The school authorities later informed the police, following which Nikhil was arrested. Police investigation revealed that Nikhil had befriended the victim through social media and frequently visited her house, where he allegedly raped her.

Police are also investigating whether Nikhil's friends were involved in the crime. Childline and police have recorded the statement of the victim and a detailed investigation is underway.
