Keshav Prasad Maurya: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who went on a foreign tour with the dream of making Uttar Pradesh a 1 trillion dollar economy, has surprised everyone. The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has achieved great success on the investment front in Germany, while the United Kingdom has imposed a visa barrier for the delegation of the Deputy CM.

After this sudden development, Keshav Maurya and IT Minister Sunil Sharma had to cancel their planned UK tour. This news has increased the political heat from Lucknow to Delhi. Questions are being raised as to why a person holding a constitutional post was not given a visa?

Why was Keshav’s Germany tour special?

Keshav Prasad Maurya left for Germany on 23 February on a big mission. His schedule was very tight till February 25. The Deputy Chief Minister held meetings with several important industrial groups in Frankfurt and Nuremberg, Germany. The special feature of this trip was the effort to make Uttar Pradesh the semiconductor hub of India.

Invitation to investment in Uttar Pradesh

He met big semiconductor companies of Germany and invited them to bring their technology and expertise to Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, German defense companies were called to make drones and invest in advanced equipment for the UP Defense Industrial Corridor. He also negotiated the creation of an industrial park and logistics hub with the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce.

Plan spoiled due to UK visa rejection

As per the schedule, the team of Keshav Maurya and Sunil Sharma was to stay in the United Kingdom from 25 to 27 February. Meetings were also scheduled there with many big investors. But, the whole plan got spoiled due to UK visa rejection at the last moment.

The official reason for visa rejection is not yet clear, but it has created a stir in diplomatic and political circles. Due to visa rejection, the Deputy Chief Minister is now returning directly to Lucknow from Germany. Although the German portion was very successful, the cancellation of the UK trip has given the opposition a ready-made issue.
