KGMU Love Jihad Case: Accused junior resident doctor suspended, had put pressure on Hindu girl by hiding marriage

Lucknow. Junior Resident Dr. Ramizuddin Naik, accused in the Love Jihad case at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), was suspended on Tuesday. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. With the approval of Sonia Nityanand (University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sonia Nityanand), Dean Academics Prof. Virendra Atam (Dean Academics Prof. Virendra Atam) took this action.

Pro. Aatm has written in the letter that the internal committee has taken cognizance of the complaint of sexual harassment. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, the Committee has said that the Junior Resident may influence the impartial and neutral investigation by continuing on duty during the pendency of the investigation.

Pro. Aatam has instructed the Junior Resident that during the period of suspension he will remain present at the KGMU headquarters, but will not perform any official work. Will not enter the University premises without prior written permission. He will be able to participate only in the investigation proceedings.

The Love Jihad Case in KGMU came to light last Saturday. By hiding his marriage with a Hindu girl, the resident doctor deceived his female colleague into a love trap and pressurized her to convert for marriage. When the female doctor refused to convert, the accused junior resident started harassing her.

A mentally disturbed female resident attempted suicide. He was admitted to the Trauma Center in critical condition, where he was treated in the ICU. On behalf of the victim’s family, a complaint has also been lodged with the Chief Minister’s Public Hearing Portal and the State Women’s Commission. The female resident lives in the hostel of KGMU. In July 2025, he got admission in MD Pathology, where he met the resident doctor. There was a good relationship between the two.

The family of the female doctor alleges that a fellow resident lured their daughter into love and exploited her for months. When it came to marriage, the resident started pressurizing for conversion, the daughter refused to do so. Meanwhile, when the resident doctor’s wife came to know about it, she informed the female doctor that he was already married. After this the female doctor became very upset and started feeling worried.
