Khadda, Kushinagar. Due to shortage and rising prices of LPG gas, the kitchen facilities of the people in Shastri Nagar ward of Khadda Nagar Panchayat have been badly affected. Due to the problem of non-availability of gas cylinders, most of the families are now forced to resort to traditional earthen stoves.
Ward residents Shanti, Sunil Rai, Aarti Devi, Mohan Prakash and Latif said that the availability of gas has become extremely low for some time now, due to which it has become difficult to cook daily food. In such a situation, the only option left is stoves running on wood and cow dung cakes. Women say that cooking on the stove is not only time consuming, but is also affecting health due to smoke. One has to work harder in preparing food from morning till night, due to which other household chores are getting affected. Local people have demanded from the administration that the gas supply should be streamlined as soon as possible, so that they can get relief from this problem and the kitchen system can become normal.
