Khajuraho MP VD Sharma raised demand for air connectivity in Lok Sabha, requested to start direct flights from Mumbai-Bengaluru and Kolkata.
Khajuraho MP and state president of Bharatiya Janata Party Vishnudutt Sharma has raised an important issue in the Lok Sabha for the development of his parliamentary constituency and promotion of tourism. He demanded better air connectivity to Khajuraho during Zero Hour in the House.
Drawing the attention of the Union Civil Aviation Minister, MP Sharma urged that the world famous tourist destination Khajuraho should be connected directly to the major metros of the country by air route. He particularly advocated the introduction of direct flights from Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
Khajuraho is a world heritage site
While speaking in the House, VD Sharma said that his parliamentary constituency Khajuraho is a ‘World Heritage Site’ and an iconic city. A large number of tourists come here not only from different parts of the country but also from all over the world to see the historical and cultural heritage here.
Expressing concern, he said that at present air connectivity here is quite limited. At present, only flights are operating on Mumbai-Khajuraho-Banaras route, which is not sufficient for the increasing number of tourists and facilities.
Tourism will get a boost
The MP argued that direct means are not available for tourists coming from South and East India. Therefore, it is extremely important to have direct connectivity with big cities like Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. This will not only provide convenience to the tourists, but will also give a new impetus to the economic development and tourism industry of the area.
“Through you, I request the Honorable Aviation Minister on behalf of the people of Khajuraho region that Khajuraho should get air connectivity to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.” , Vishnudatt Sharma, MP, Khajuraho
The MP expressed hope that the Central Government will soon take positive steps in this direction, so that Khajuraho can be established more strongly on the global stage. Better connectivity is also likely to increase the inflow of foreign tourists.
