Kharge attacks PM Modi, says – ‘You are a traitor, not us, stop putting all the blame on the opposition’
New Delhi21 December. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hit back at PM Modi’s statement regarding the security of the North-Eastern states, saying that since the BJP is in power both at the Center and in Assam, it should take responsibility for any failure instead of blaming the opposition. A day earlier, PM Modi had accused the Congress of neglecting Assam and the Northeast while in power and giving protection to infiltrators at the cost of the security and identity of the region.
Double engine government but responsible opposition how?,
Referring to the BJP’s oft-repeated slogan, Kharge said, ‘A dual-engine government is running in Assam, but why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi blaming it on Congress. How can he blame the opposition parties? They have a government at the Center and they also have their own government in Assam, which they call ‘double engine government’. How can he blame the opposition parties if they fail to protect? Are we ruling there?’
,When they fail they put all the blame on the opposition,
The Congress President said, ‘When they fail, they put the entire blame on the opposition and I condemn such statements. They are traitors, not us and we are not defending anyone. We will do every possible good work in the interest of the country, but will not support terrorists, infiltrators or anyone else. He is only being blamed because he has failed to provide security or stop them.
PM Modi had given this statement
It is noteworthy that in his address, PM Modi had accused Congress of neglecting Assam and the Northeast for decades and said that infiltrators were allowed to settle in the region, which is threatening its security and cultural identity. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission, Modi had said that the purpose of this process is to keep infiltrators away from the democratic process.
