Jharkhand News: Bumper profit in farming! Grow Madua, get Rs 3000 per acre from the government and solar pump set at 97% discount.

Jharkhand News: As soon as the Kharif season starts, farmers have started preparing their fields. At such a time, a farmer seminar was organized by Atma Samiti near Hadoraidih Panchayat of Masalia block to provide information to the farmers about new agricultural techniques and government schemes. The objective of this program was to teach modern farming methods to farmers, reduce the cost of farming and tell them ways to increase production. A large number of farmers participated in the seminar and also got to know the solutions to their problems by talking directly to the agricultural experts.

Advice on adopting modern farming

While addressing the farmers in the program, BTM Shyamsunder Singh said that with the changing times, there is a need to change the methods of farming. Instead of relying only on traditional farming, farmers should adopt modern and scientific techniques. He said that using improved varieties of seeds gives good yield and the quality of the crop also improves.

He advised farmers to increase the cultivation of crops like pulses, oilseeds and millet. Also told that by adopting techniques like integrated nutrient management and integrated pest management, the crop gets proper nutrition, pests are controlled better and production increases. Due to this, the soil of the field also remains fertile for a long time.

Emphasis given on natural and organic farming

The importance of natural and organic farming was also discussed in detail in the seminar. Experts said that excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides gradually reduces the fertility of the soil. Therefore, farmers should use organic manure, cow dung and bio-fertilizers as much as possible.

He told that if farmers make balanced use of chemical and organic fertilizers then the health of the soil will remain better. This will improve the quality of the crop and the chances of getting good prices in the market will also increase.

Madua cultivation promoted under Millet Mission

While giving information about Millet Mission Scheme to the farmers, the experts advised them to cultivate Madua (Ragi). He said that in view of climate change and decreasing rainfall, there is a need for such crops which require less water. Madua is one such crop, which can be cultivated easily at low cost and with less water.

He told that Madua is a grain rich in nutrition. Calcium, iron, fiber and protein are found in good quantities in it, hence it is also considered very beneficial for health. In order to encourage farmers to cultivate this crop, the government also gives an incentive amount of Rs 3,000 per acre under the Millet Mission. This will help in increasing the income of farmers.

Affordable irrigation facility through PM Kusum Yojana

In the seminar, farmers were also given information about Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana. Experts said that under this scheme, farmers are given subsidy up to 97 percent for installing solar pumps. Farmers have to contribute only about Rs 5,000, after which they are provided with solar pumps.

He said that with the installation of solar pumps, farmers’ expenditure on irrigation will be significantly reduced. Dependence on diesel and electricity will reduce and farmers will be able to irrigate their crops at lower cost. This will make farming more profitable and the income of farmers will also increase.

Appeal for balanced use of chemicals

At the end of the program, agricultural experts appealed to the farmers to use chemical fertilizers and pesticides only as per requirement. He said that continuous use of chemicals in large quantities reduces the fertility of the soil and also affects future production.

Experts advised that farmers should make balanced use of organic manure, bio-fertilizers and chemical fertilizers. This will maintain the quality of the soil, the crop will be more nutritious and the production will also be better. Also, farmers’ farming will become sustainable and profitable for a long time.

Farmers showed interest in the schemes

The farmers participating in the seminar showed great interest in government schemes like modern farming, millet mission and PM Kusum Yojana. Farmers asked many questions related to farming to the experts and got information about new technologies. Experts assured that if farmers take proper advantage of scientific methods and government schemes, they will be able to achieve better production at lower costs and their income will also increase continuously.
