New Delhi: In Hindu religion, marriage and other auspicious functions are always performed during auspicious time. It is believed that the work done in auspicious time is blessed by the Gods and due to the favorable influence of the planets, the work is successful. However, during Kharmas all auspicious activities are stopped and due to this the organization of marriages remains temporarily halted.

This year Kharmas is starting from 16th December 2025, hence marriages and other auspicious functions will not take place during this period. Also, due to the setting of Venus, marriages were already banned from December 11, 2025. Let us know when the next auspicious marriage time will start.

Kharmas and ban on marriage

Kharmas, also known as Malamas, comes when Lord Sun enters Sagittarius. At this time no auspicious or auspicious work is done in Hindu religion. This year Kharmas is starting from 16th December 2025.

Effect of Venus setting

Venus is considered to be the planet responsible for love, marital happiness and marriage. There is no auspicious time for marriages due to the setting of Venus on 11 December 2025. Because of this, marriages will not be organized during December 2025 and January 2026.

Auspicious time for marriage in 2026

Kharmas will end on 15 January 2026. However, marriage season will not start until February 2026, as Venus will remain set for 53 days. Marriage and other auspicious functions will start only after the rise of Venus. This time the marriage season will start from February 2026 itself.

Auspicious time for marriage in February 2026

  • A total of 12 auspicious times will be available for marriage in February 2026. These Muhurats are on the following dates:

  • 05, 06, 08, 10, 12, 14, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25 and 26 February 2026

  • By getting married on these dates, all the auspicious works are considered successful and happiness and prosperity comes in the newly married life.
