‘Khelo Delhi-Delhi Khel Mahakumbh’ started in Delhi, CM Rekha Gupta inaugurated it at Chhatrasal Stadium, youth will get a big platform

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated “Khelo Delhi-Delhi Khel Mahakumbh” from Chhatrasal Stadium. The month-long mega sports festival aims to attract over 30,000 athletes from 17 sports complexes. This is the first state level mega sports festival organized by the Delhi government, which is being seen as the capital’s biggest grassroots sports initiative. The official mascot of Delhi Khel Mahakumbh named Ranveer was also unveiled.

CM Rekha Gupta said that the government is committed to developing world-class sports infrastructure in Delhi. Under this, construction of new stadiums, development of modern sports grounds, availability of advanced equipment, appointment of trained coaches and better facilities will be ensured.

Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this mega sports festival is a visionary initiative of the Delhi Government on the lines of Khelo India Mission and Fit India Movement. Its objective is to connect the youth with sports, encourage healthy lifestyle and establish Delhi as a strong sports hub. This event marks the renaissance of sports culture in Delhi and will pave the way for grassroots talent to reach the national and international stage.

To inspire the youth and increase enthusiasm for sports, Olympic medalist and Khel Ratna awardee Ravi Dahiya, international cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and Para Olympic medalist Sharad Kumar have been made the brand ambassadors of Delhi Khel Mahakumbh.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other distinguished guests visited the stadium in an open jeep and greeted the players and the spectators present. The highlight of the event came when the CWSN players, school band, Nashik Dhol and more than 1,000 players from various universities and sports associations of Delhi presented a grand march-past.

Players were also rewarded on this occasion. Besides, the brilliant presentation of singer Parmish Verma also filled the entire atmosphere with energy and enthusiasm.

During this, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Delhi Khel Mahakumbh is not just a competition but a festival of energy, dreams and possibilities of the youth of the capital. This event will become a medium to give a new flight to the dreams of the youth of Delhi.

Sports Minister Ashish Sood said that this event will be a big movement towards making the capital the sports capital of the country. There will be competitions in athletics, football, wrestling, basketball, volleyball, kabaddi and squash, in which athletes from different institutions including schools and colleges, Delhi University and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University will participate.
