New Delhi: The Indian men’s team defeated Bhutan by 71-34 and qualified for the quarterfinals of the Kho Kho World Cup on Thursday, January 16. The victory also guaranteed the first position for India in the Group A table.
The hosts started the match brilliantly in the first turn and displayed exceptional attacking skills to score 32 points. Team India showed their defensive expertise in the second turn to contain Bhutan’s attacks. Bhutan only managed to score 18 points in three batches despite displaying speed. India’s strategic play and clever opposition management outclassed Bhutan.
India return to the attacking mode during the third turn and Nikhil emerged as the top performer for the team. He helped the team to score 36 points. Team India demonstrated exceptional skills during the match with brilliant coordination, running touches and skydives.
Bhutan struggled to score points in their final attacking turn and managed just nine points in more than half the allocated time. India’s overall performance in the game included an impressive tally of 18 skydives, two post-dive points, and eight running touchpoints across their attacking turns.

Indian women’s team also qualifies for quarterfinal
Indian women’s team also continues their unbeaten run and defeated Malaysia to enter the quarterfinal of the Kho Kho World Cup on Thursday. Team India began the game with a stunning run in their opening batch, setting the tone for a stunning victory.
Defenders and attackers performed brilliantly and completely dominated the match. The Malaysian side showed a fighting spirit but the Indian team performed exceptionally well in the match and made it three wins in three games. They will face Bangladesh in the quarterfinal of the Kho-Kho World Cup.
