Kia EV9 GT: The Performance Family Hauler
The Kia EV9 has quickly become one of the more popular full size EVs. There are not a lot of 7-seater family hauling electric vehicles around in the market but the EV9 definitely is a great choice out of the options available. Hyundai recently launched their INOIQ 9 at the LA Auto Show but Kia also showcased the EV9 GT, which is the hottest version of the SUV.
Lets get started with the performance first, the EV9 GT now has 501 bhp from the two electric motors. The front motor produces 214 bhp and the rear motor produces 362 bhp. It will do 0-100 kmph in 4.4 seconds. Kia has also given the EV9 GT, fake gears, just like the IONIQ 5 N and the driver can use the paddle shifters to mimic gear changes. It is indeed a gimmick but it is a brilliant thing to experience.
Kia has given the EV9 GT adaptive dampers to counter all that performance and there is a limited-slip differential as well for better dynamics in the corners. It gets the usual drive modes but there is special lime green button on the steering wheel which gives you all the performance. Kia has not yet revealed the range of the vehicle but we think that it is going to be around the 500 km mark.
Visually, there are subtle changes. It gets special 21-inch wheels, a little bit of design changes to the lighting and bumpers to make people know that this is the GT model, green painted brake calipers, and active air flaps. On the inside, the lime green theme continues, with sport seats with Alcantara inserts, and a lot of GT badging.
The EV9 GT’s pricing has not been revealed yet but it will be produced in Korea. Currently we only get one version of the EV9 in the Indian market and it costs Rs 1.3 crore so we can expect this one to cost a little more than that albeit we are not sure if it will make its way onto the Indian shores.
