Currently, the safest ICE vehicle available on sale in India is the 2026 Kia Seltos mid-size SUV. In the Bharat NCAP crash tests, it scored 31.70 out of 32 in adult occupant protection tests and 45.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests. Its total score was 76.70/81.

As standard, it comes loaded with 6 airbags (front, side, curtain), ESC and vehicle stability management for stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, hill-start assist, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, and a rear camera with dynamic guidelines. It also gets Level 2 ADAS, Blind Spot View Monitor, a 360-degree camera, and many others. It is built on the new K3 platform with high-strength steel.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is the first body-on-frame SUV in India to achieve a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. It scored 31.09 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 45.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection. Its total score is 76.09 out of 81, making it one of the highest-scoring ICE SUVs.

It comes with over 35 standard safety features, including 6 airbags, ESP with multiple functions, ISOFIX mounts, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. The Skoda Kylaq is currently the safest sub-4 metre SUV in India, with a total score of 75.88 out of 81. It scored 30.88 out of 32 in adult protection and 45.00 out of 49 in child protection tests.

It gets 6 airbags, ESC, multi-collision braking, an electronic differential lock, brake disc wiping, ISOFIX mounts, and 3-point seatbelts as standard. Higher variants add TPMS, a rear camera, hill hold control, and more. However, it does not get Level 2 ADAS features. It is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform and has a stable body shell.

The newly launched Tata Sierra is one of the safest SUVs currently on sale in India. It scored 31.14 out of 32 in adult occupant protection tests and 44.73 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests. Its total score stands at 75.87 out of 81.

It comes with 6 airbags, ESP with 21 functions, including rollover mitigation, all-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX mounts, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold as standard. Higher variants also get Level 2+ ADAS with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane centering, a 360-degree HD camera, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The Hyundai Venue has become the safest sub-compact SUV in India by scoring a total score of 75.61 out of 81. It scored a total rating of 31.15 out of 32 in adult occupant protection tests and 44.46 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests. The new Venue is built on the K1 platform with 71% high-strength steel and has been rated to have a stable body in crash tests.

Its list of standard safety features includes 33 features, of which some are 6 airbags, ESC, and VSM. The Venue also gets all-wheel disc brakes, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, and 3-point seatbelts for all seats. Higher variants also get ADAS with forward collision avoidance, smart cruise control, lane keep and follow assist, and a blind spot monitor. The Tata Punch facelift has become one of the safest compact SUVs in India, with a total score of 75.58 out of 81. It scored 30.58 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 45.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests.

It comes with 6 airbags, ESP with multiple functions, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, brake sway control, and 3-point seatbelts as standard. The Toyota Innova Hycross is one of the safest MPVs in India and scored 30.47 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 45.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests. Its total score stands at 75.47 out of 81.

It comes with 6 airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill start assist, all-wheel disc brakes, EPB with auto hold, and ISOFIX mounts. Higher variants also get Toyota Safety Sense ADAS features like pre-collision system, radar cruise control, lane trace assist, a blind spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also scored a perfect 16/16 in side impact tests.

The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is a premium MPV that also scored a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP. It scored 30.43 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 45.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests. Its total score is 75.43 out of 81.

It comes with 6 airbags, ESP with hill hold assist, all-wheel disc brakes, EPB with auto hold, ISOFIX mounts, and 3-point seatbelts as standard. It also gets a 360-degree camera, TPMS, parking sensors, and connected car tech with eCall. However, unlike the Hycross, it does not get Level 2 ADAS features.

The first Maruti Suzuki SUV to score 5-star safety in Bharat NCAP is the newly launched Victoris mid-size SUV. It scored 31.66 out of 32 in adult occupant protection tests and 43.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests. Its total score is 74.66 out of 81. The Victoris was noted to have a stable body shell and footwell, and it also scored a full score (24/24) in child restraint tests.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris’ safety features include 6 airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ISOFIX mounts, and 3-point seatbelts for all seats as standard. Higher-spec variants also get Level 2 ADAS with AEB, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, EPB with auto hold, and front parking sensors.
