‘Why don’t you..’: Kichcha Sudeep snaps back at critics of film’s English title ‘Max’
New Delhi: Kichcha Sudeep has been pretty busy with the promotions for his upcoming film, Max. Set to release on December 25, this upcoming Kannada film is an action thriller directed by Vijay Karthikeyaa. The cast for the film includes Kichcha Sudeep alongside an ensemble cast with actors such as Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Samyukta Hornad, Sukrutha Wagle and Anirudh Bhat.
Ahead of the film, the actor was attending a press conference on December 25, 2024. Kichcha Sudeep was asked about why his Kannada film has an English title. The actor did not skip a beat before giving the interviewer a befitting reply. Here is what Kichcha Sudeep had to say.
Kichcha Sudeep’s reasoning behind English-titled film
The actor did not use any profanity or rude tone to answer the question but simply used logical reasoning. Sudeep questioned why every new channel has an English name, when the viewers are like himself, Kannadigas. He reminds the interviewer that Karnataka has English-medium schools and the kids attending those schools are also Kannadigas. He then went on to ask the reporter, “Do you have Apple? Why don’t you try saying Apple in Kannada? So what exactly is the problem?”

Set to premiere in theatres on December 25, 2024, Kichcha Sudeep’s upcoming film Max follows the story of Inspector Arjun Mahakshay. After a two-month-long suspension, Arjun reports for his duty at a new police station. However, his nightmare seems never-ending as one unexpected night changes the trajectory of his life. The film follows Arjun’s journey to solve the problem at hand before things become irreversible.
While speaking to The Hindu about the film, Kichcha Sudeep teased that Max is quite a realistic film. Although there are commercial elements added to the film, Sudeeps’character, Arjun is very believable. Explaining the delay in release, Sudeep stated that after his two battles with COVID-19, he could not get back in shape because of his medicines and weak health. However, after one and a half years of training, he could get Max off the floor.
