There is an uproar over the murder of a Dalit woman in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. A Dalit girl was kidnapped by some people in village Paksad of Sardhana area at around 8 am on Thursday. As soon as the mother got the news, she ran to the spot and started rescuing her daughter from the youth. The miscreants attacked the woman on the head with an axe, and the woman fell down breathless. The woman has died in the hospital. Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati has also expressed grief over the accident.
Both the accused of kidnapping have been identified. The names of the accused are Paras Som and Sunil Kumar. Both are residents of this village. Both the accused are absconding after the murder. Police have registered a case of murder and kidnapping against them. as well as SC/ST Act has also been imposed.

What did the victim say before she died?
Before dying, the woman had given a statement that Paras had misbehaved with her daughter. When he protested, he was beaten and hit on the head. The police is now busy searching for both the accused. Many teams have been sent to Haryana and Delhi.
What does the victim’s family want?
Heavy police force has been deployed in the village to prevent any further riots. The family had earlier refused to perform the last rites. He has demanded the arrest of the accused, demolition of their illegal construction and safe return of the daughter. The family members were not even ready to burn the dead body of the woman; after much discussion, the last rites of the woman could be performed in the evening.

What steps has the administration taken?
The administration has given Rs 10 lakh to the family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Another Rs 12 lakh will be available till the charge sheet is filed. Consideration is also being made to give arms license to the family for protection. Political rhetoric on this matter has also intensified.

Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati has said that the government should take the cases of molestation and honor killing of women very seriously and take strict action. Akhilesh Yadav has said that the BJP government is giving protection to criminals, people are completely disappointed with the government. Former MP Sanjeev Balyan also went to meet the family and appealed to them to be patient.
