Kieron Pollard creates HISTORY in T20s, joins Chris Gayle in THIS elite list

Kieron Pollard became only the second batsman to hit 900 sixes in match, January 16th 2025. MI Emirates was bowled out for 159 but they were out by five wickets to the Desert Vipers. Pollard has 13,429 runs and 326 wickets in 690 T20 games of his impressive stats.

New Delhi: Kieron Pollard has now etched his name in history by becoming the second player to have hit 900 sixes in T20 cricket. He achieved this milestone in an International League T20 match on January 16, 2025, when MI Emirates were playing Desert Vipers at the Dubai International Stadium. This milestone was achieved first by Chris Gayle.
The Desert Vipers won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. MI Emirates managed to score 159 runs. Pollard came into the game after the dismissal of skipper Nicholas Pooran in the 13th over. His innings of 36 runs off 23 balls featured two boundaries and three sixes, contributing significantly to the team’s score.

Pollard’s celebration came when, in the 19th over, he reached his second six off Lockie Ferguson. Thereby, he finally achieved the incredible feat of surpassing 900 sixes on the cricket fields. This great feat puts Pollard in exclusive company in terms of T20 cricket, a list that tops four players-all from the Caribbean.

Pollard has appeared in 690 T20 games and scored 13,429 runs at a great strike rate of 150.38 and bagged 326 wickets as well. Pollard is appreciated for his essential contribution to Mumbai Indians winning the IPL title five times. In addition, he was a member of the West Indian team that successfully won the T20 World Cup in 2012.

Despite his efforts, MI Emirates lost the match to Desert Vipers by five wickets, with five balls remaining. Pollard, who retired from international cricket in 2022, continues to showcase his talent in various global leagues.
