The murderer of former Bangladesh President ‘Ziaur Rahman’ arrested from Dhaka after 45 years
Dhaka. Security agencies have got a major success in the murder case of former Bangladesh President ‘Ziaur Rahman’. Nearly 45 years after the incident, the main accused and former Bangladesh Army Major Mohammad ‘Muzaffar Hussain’ was arrested by the Detective Branch of the Metropolitan Police from the elite Banani area of Dhaka. After completing the necessary legal formalities in this case, he has been handed over to the Bangladesh Army for further court martial.

Bullets were fired in Chittagong Circuit House
According to official documents, the founder and then President of Bangladesh Nationalist Party ‘Ziaur Rahman’ was assassinated on 30 May 1981 by some rebel army officers at Chittagong Circuit House. After investigation of this case, it was alleged that Major Muzaffar Hussain was one of the selected officers who had fired indiscriminately at President Ziaur Rahman from close range.
The accused kept dodging for four and a half decades
Muzaffar Hussain had fled the country after committing this dangerous murder. After which the then government had also announced a reward for his arrest. Let us tell you that he was hiding in the neighboring countries for a long time with a fake identity and recently returned to his homeland i.e. Bangladesh in disguise. The assassination of ‘Ziaur Rahman’, father of current Prime Minister ‘Tariq Rahman’, has been a very sensational chapter in the history of Bangladesh. Therefore, the present government is considering this arrest as a historic and very important achievement.
