Kishwer Merchant Reveals She Craved Alcohol In Her Pregnancy: 'Felt Like Drinking Whisky'

Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai, who became popular after they entered Bigg Boss 9 together, are one of the most-loved celebrity pairs in the television industry. The couple first met on the sets of the serial Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani in 2011 and got married in December 2016 after dating for a few years. They welcomed their first child, a son named Nirvair, on August 27, 2021, and often post adorable family pictures on their social media.

Recently, the couple appeared on actress and Bigg Boss 14 winner Rubina Dilaik’s podcast wherein they opened up about their experiences as young parents and how it has transformed their lives. Recalling her pregnancy, the actress made a hilarious revelation of how she craved whiskey during her pregnancy, despite being a non-drinker. Her husband chimed in adding, “’She doesn’t drink and yet was enjoying the smell”, much to their amusement.

The Kaisi Yeh Yaariyaan actress shared, “We were at a party, and despite not being a drinker, I felt like sipping whisky. I told Suyyash about it and he asked why I wanted to drink when I don’t generally do. Later, I asked him if I could simply smell it. I’m still not sure how none of my friends realised I was pregnant.”

Talking about the changes she felt after welcoming Nirvair, she added, “Motherhood has brought about tremendous changes. I used to be psychologically strong, but that has changed. I’ve changed into a new person—I cry easily, and I often get furious with myself for being upset about small issues. I have become extremely sensitive.”

Suyyash also joined and recalled his experience during her pregnancy and shared, “It wasn’t only she who became pregnant. I was equally pregnant with her, particularly in terms of weight. My mother sent gond ke ladoos and because she didn’t eat them, I had to finish them all. I achieved 103 kilogrammes! One day, I noticed the weighing scale read 102.8 kgs and wondered, “What have I done to myself?’”

On the work front, Kishwer has been a part of several big TV shows like Shaktimaan, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Khichdi, Hatim, Parvarrish, Kaisi Yeh Yaariyaan, Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar and others. She last appeared in the web series Dear Ishq which premiered on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar. The series starred Niyati Fatnani and Shehban Azim in lead roles.

Suyyash, on the other hand, is known for his performances in shows like Laal Ishq, Phir Bhi Na Maane Badtameez Dil, Pehredaar Piya Ki and others.
