Kiwi bowler Blair Tickner injured in New Zealand-Wendies match

New Delhi: A very tragic incident occurred in the second Test of the ongoing Test series between New Zealand and West Indies. Kiwi fast bowler Blair Tickner suffered a serious injury. The incident took place on 10 December 2025 at the Basin Reserve grounds in Wellington.

Tickner was taken off the field on a stretcher and immediately sent to the hospital. He suffered this injury while trying to catch a catch, due to which he could not participate further in the match.

Got seriously injured while saving the boundary

During the 67th over of the match, when the West Indies innings was going on, New Zealand bowler Michael Ray bowled the ball. The West Indies batsman played a powerful shot, due to which the ball moved towards the boundary. In an attempt to stop the boundary, Blair Tickner made a long dive and was successful in saving two runs. But during this attempt he suffered a serious injury to his left shoulder.

As soon as he fell on the ground, Tickner started groaning in pain and remained lying on the pitch for a long time. The medical team immediately helped him and he was taken out of the field on a stretcher.

Big blow for New Zealand

This incident is also shocking for New Zealand because Tickner was the most successful bowler on the first day. He gave only 32 runs in 16 overs and took 4 important wickets for West Indies. Because of him, the West Indies team was all out for just 205 runs in the first innings. Now New Zealand has suffered a big loss due to his injury. Till stumps, New Zealand had scored 24 runs without losing any wicket, but now they will have to play the next game without Tickner.

The sequence of injuries is not stopping

At present the New Zealand cricket team is struggling with injuries. Apart from Blair Tickner, several key players are already injured, including Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson (hamstring), Will O’Rourke (back), and Adam Milne (ankle).
