KKR got great news before the start of IPL 2026 season, this star player is completely fit.

The 19th season of IPL is going to start from March 28, but before the start of the season, many big players have been out due to their fitness problems. In such a situation, a relief news has come out for Kolkata Knight Riders, because their fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana is now completely fit.

Mathisha Pathirana became fit, also got NOC

Mathisha Pathirana, who is a fast bowler of the Sri Lankan team, was injured during the match against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2026. Since then he was out of the field, but now Pathirana has regained his fitness and started bowling. Along with this, Sri Lanka Cricket Board has also given NOC (No Objection Certificate) to Pathirana to play in IPL. Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Bandula Dissanayake told news agency PTI that Pathirana has completed his rehabilitation and is now fit. “He is fully fit and we have cleared him to play in the IPL,” he said.

Relief news for KKR

Pathirana being fully fit is a relief for Kolkata Knight Riders, as Harshit Rana is not able to be included in their fast bowling group this season. Apart from this, KKR does not have any other big name in terms of fast bowling. In such a situation, the fitness of Mathisha Pathirana can prove to be a great news for KKR. Earlier, Pathirana was a part of Chennai Super Kings.

Now that he has received the NOC from Sri Lanka Cricket, he will soon join the KKR squad and will strengthen the team with his bowling in the IPL 2026 season.
