IPL 2026 points table: Playoff equation changed with KKR’s win, DC’s hopes dashed
Delhi: In the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) performed brilliantly and strengthened their hopes in the tournament by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets. With this big win, Kolkata gained a significant lead in the points table and now the team is once again strongly involved in the race for the playoffs. On the other hand, Delhi’s situation has now become very critical and its further journey seems to depend almost on the results of other teams.

Kolkata raised expectations
The victory in this match proved to be very important for Kolkata Knight Riders. The team has registered its fourth win in the 10 matches played so far, while one of its matches was canceled due to rain. For this reason, the team now has a total of 9 points in its account. After this victory, Kolkata has left Delhi behind and secured seventh place in the points table.
However, the net run rate of the team is still negative and it remains a matter of concern for them. Kolkata’s net run rate is -0.169, but the good thing is that the team still has four matches left. If Kolkata maintains the winning streak in the coming matches, it can reach 17 points and become a strong contender for a place in the playoffs.
Difficult challenge in front of Delhi Capitals
This defeat has proved to be very heavy for Delhi Capitals. The team had to face its seventh defeat after 11 matches this season. With this, Delhi has reached eighth position with 8 points. The biggest concern is his very poor net run rate, which has fallen to -1.154.
Delhi now has only three matches left. Even if the team wins all its remaining matches, it will still be able to score a maximum of 14 points. Looking at the current situation, these many points are not considered enough to reach the playoffs. In such a situation, Delhi will now have to expect not only its own victory but also the defeat of other teams.
The position of top teams in the points table is strong

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals have also performed brilliantly and collected 12 points each and both the teams are maintaining their place in the top-4. Gujarat Titans also remain at fifth position after scoring 12 points in 10 matches.
