The IPL is back in news after all the 10 franchises announced their retentions. All eyes will be on Kolkata Knight Riders as they have released Shreyas Iyer and Mitchell Starc, the two most important players behind their success in the 17th season.
The defending champions might play several matches at a different venue other than Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
According to PTI, the under-construction stadium in Narsingarh is Tripura is likely to be the second home of KKR , with Eden Gardens set to undergo renovation. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has agreed to host IPL matches in Tripura but the stadium should be ready by February.
Eden Gardens will witness a major change keeping in mind the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The Cricket Association of Bengal wants two new dressing rooms. The increase in the captaincy of the venue is also being looked at by the officials.
The construction work is expected to be completed by December 2025. KKR will have to play some games outside Kolkata.
