Under the leadership of KL Rahul, the franchise made it to the playoffs twice. But last season the team finished seventh, due to which the team had to take a new path.

Despite the team struggling, Rahul performed well. He scored 520 runs in IPL 2024. KL Rahul said, “The environment plays an important role in the success of a team. Now I am looking forward to playing with freedom in a more balanced setup.”

Aakash Chopra believes that KL Rahul is the perfect candidate to fill many gaps in the Chennai Super Kings lineup. Aakash Chopra said, “What do they need? I think they need Dhoni’s successor, a wicketkeeper-batsman and it would be good if they get an Indian. Everyone is saying, so let me say. He is over 30 years old and in a few days, he is going to be a father. So he is right for Chennai. He is KL Rahul. So they will definitely choose KL Rahul.”

He said, “We cannot say how far they will go but they will try to get him because the franchise still has 55 crores to spend. So if they can get an Indian like him, Ishan Kishan or Rishabh Pant for Rs 10-15 crore, they will try. They can think about Shreyas Iyer for some time because they will need Indian batsmen to bat in those conditions.”
