KL Rahul Set to Part Ways with Lucknow Super Giants Ahead of IPL 2025

KL Rahul is set to leave the Lucknow Super Giants and is reportedly available for the IPL 2025 mega auction. With many speculations revolving around KL Rahul’s future with the franchise, both have reportedly concluded.

The 32-year-old has played 132 matches in IPL to date and scored 4683 runs including four hundreds and 37 fifties.

The high-profile player has also led Punjab Kings in the Past and has most recently been linked to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are on the lookout for a new captain after du Plessis tried to deliver to claim a trophy in three attempts.

In a recent video, when requested to play RCB team in the IPL 2025, KL Rahul said, “Let’s Hope so.”

During India’s first test against New Zealand as well, fans were heard chanting ‘RCB captain KL Rahul.’

KL Rahul has played for the RCB in the past, and the chance of a reunion cannot be ruled out. The Chinnaswamy has been the home ground for KL Rahul and returning to his career could be a smart decision on returning to T20 career.

The senior batter was not included in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 despite being the LSG’s top scorer in IPL 2024. Scoring 520 runs, however, he still coped with critics for his slow strike.

Sanjeev Goenka’s animated chat with KL Rahul after LSG’s humiliating defeat in Hyderabad has also gone viral. Rahul recently met the owner in Kolkata, and the meeting was a formal gesture to close their professional relationship.

Goenka has denied confirming Rahul’s retention after the meeting even though he called him family.

With Rahul parting his ways with the franchise almost confirmed, it will be interesting to see what IPL holds in the future for one of India’s most talented cricketers.

With the IPL 2025 mega auction expected to be held on November 24 and 25, BCCI had some apprehension about the dates as the IND vs AUS 1st Test will clash with the IPL mega auction.

Meanwhile, the franchises must submit the retained players list before the deadline set for 5:00 PM IST on October 31.

All the franchises wanted the two-day auction to be held in India, but it was not an option. Now the BCCI is on the verge of finalizing the venue and date for the IPL mega auction so that they can make travel arrangements.
