What is multiple myeloma?
If we talk about this disease here, it is a kind of blood cancer which starts from plasma cells. Plasma cells are white blood cells (WBC), which make antibodies to help the body fight infection. In multiple myeloma, these cells start growing very rapidly in the bone marrow i.e. the muscle tissue located inside the bone. This can cause tumors to form in the bones and start releasing harmful proteins into the blood. When plasma cells grow too much, they suppress healthy blood cells, causing the body to not function properly.
