The biggest question after this deal is why did Karan Johar have to make this deal? Is Dharma planning something else for the coming days? These questions are also being raised because even though the budget of films has increased after Covid-19, the earnings are not that much. Many films which had good budgets are failing at the box office. The effect of which is being seen overall in the Bollywood industry due to which many distributors hesitate in buying the rights of the film. Now if we talk only about Dharma Production, then in the financial year 2023, the profit decreased by about 60 percent and the expenses increased by more than 4 times.

It is said that Karan Johar was looking for a partner for a long time, who would have a good budget pocket to help in the film making, and Karan himself would keep the creative control in his hands. This deal with Poonawala is believed to be a part of Karan Johar's plan. The investment made by Poonawala will provide financial support to Dharma Productions so that it can meet the changing consumer demands. Especially that consumer who is spending more time on digital platforms will be kept in mind. Because nowadays more people like to spend time on OTT than cinema halls.
