Know why Ratan Tata felt ‘humiliated’ during his first 13 weeks at Harvard Business School

His admission left everyone in the hall speechless. He added that he was very impressed by his classmates’ achievements. He admitted that it was quite challenging for him to attend the classes, and his only wish was for the days to pass quickly so he could return to his normal life.

Ratan Tata attended Harvard Business School to pursue the Advanced Management Programme in 1975. In 2013, he revealed an anecdote from his time at Harvard that shocked everyone listening to his speech.

Ratan Tata was invited to dedicate Tata Hall at Harvard Business School.  When he started delivering his speech, he stated that he felt humiliated for the first 13 weeks at the school.

His admission left everyone in the hall speechless. He added that he was very impressed by his classmates’ achievements. He admitted that it was quite challenging for him to attend the classes, and his only wish was for the days to pass quickly so he could return to his normal life.

However, the global business leader had also admitted that he learned much from those 13 weeks. He said it transformed his life and perspective.

Ratan Tata had donated $50 million to Harvard Business School for a new building construction and later the school named that building as Tata Hall.

Ratan Tata died on October 9. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. His last rites were performed with full state honours at Worli crematorium in Mumbai.
