Coming to this place, you should see the 350-year-old monument which was built by Gond King Hriday Shah in 1667. Currently, this monument is known as Moti Mahal. Tourists from all corners of the country and the world come to see it. Many beliefs and stories are told about the Moti Mahal Fort. The most special thing about this palace is that its walls were never shaken by the British rule.

Moti Mahal is one of the most popular forts of Madhya Pradesh. Due to which tourists from all over the country come to this place. This fort is very grand and beautiful. It is said that at the time of its construction, it was at a height of 80 feet from the Narmada River. Some writings have been inscribed on the walls of the courtyard of this palace, which give the genealogy of the Gond dynasty. This genealogy includes the names from the founder Jadoray to Hridayshah. An elephant stable has also been built in this fort, in which elephants were kept. At that time, arrangements were also made to keep horses near the elephant stable.

Moti Mahal was a very grand fort. It also had Rani Mahal and Raibhagat Kothi. The main gate of the palace is situated towards the Narmada river. The shape of this palace is rectangular with a huge courtyard inside and a huge pond in the middle. There are many small and big rooms on every floor of Moti Mahal. These rooms were once the residence of the king. It is said that there are some tunnels in Moti Mahal which open into Madan Mahal of Jabalpur and the fort of Mandla. You must visit this place.

There are many legends related to Moti Mahal which are still very popular among the local people. According to one legend, it is said that apart from monarchy, King Hridayshah was also an expert in Tantra-Mantra and black magic, due to which he could please anyone. Once there was a situation of famine and starvation in his empire, he even pleased Mother Annapurna by doing severe penance. Due to which the Mother blessed him that there would be a rain of gold, silver and diamonds and jewels in his empire for two and a half days and two and a half nights. The Mother blessed him that there would never be a famine in his empire. Some people still believe in this legend. It is said that even today when people dig the ground to build a house, they find gold and silver coins somewhere.
