known as the heart of Iran "Kharg Island" But America claimed to bomb, know full details

Washington: There has been a new turn in the war that has been going on between America, Israel and Iran for the last two weeks. US President Donald Trump announced that the US military launched a massive airstrike on Iran’s Kharg Island, in which all the military bases there were destroyed. Trump also issued a warning that if Iran created any obstruction to the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the island’s important oil infrastructure would also be targeted.

Trump wrote on his social platform Truth Social that US Central Command carried out one of the most powerful bombings in the history of the Middle East. He said that every military point present on this ‘Crown Jewel’ of Iran was completely destroyed. Although oil facilities have been spared for now, the decision may change if something goes wrong. Trump insisted that Iran has nothing that it can defend against American attack.

Where is Kharg Island located?

Kharg Island, situated in the Persian Gulf, is considered the centerpiece of Iran’s oil-based economy. It is about 55 kilometers north-west of Bushehr port and about 28 kilometers from the Iranian mainland. Its size is 8 kilometers long and 4-5 kilometers wide, and it is naturally protected due to the deep sea all around. According to Al Jazeera reports, more than 90 percent of Iran’s crude oil is loaded on ships and exported from this island, due to which it is called the economic heartbeat of the country.

Target for the first time in this war

America and Israel had till now attacked Iran’s military bases, missile sites and nuclear centers, but Kharg Island was targeted for the first time. A report by Axios a few days ago revealed that the Trump administration is considering a strategy to capture the island.

Reason and possible impact of the attack

This attack took place at a time when America announced the deployment of 2500 troops and an amphibious assault ship in the Middle East. JP Morgan’s report states that Kharg Island is very important for Iran’s economy. Experts believe that a direct attack on the oil infrastructure here could bring Iran’s oil exports to an immediate halt. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has threatened to set regional oil-gas facilities on fire if their energy resources are attacked, which could lead to a major crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf countries.
