Kolhapur International Cricket Stadium: Kolhapur A significant step has been taken towards building an international standard cricket stadium here. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis And in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister (as well as Sports and Youth Welfare Minister) Sunetra Ajit Pawar, a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Kolhapur District Cricket Association (KDCA) and the Sports Department. The government said that the project will provide world-class sports facilities to Kolhapur’s athletes and give new recognition to the quality of sports in the region.

On this occasion, Minister of Medical Education Hasan Mushrif; Minister of Public Health and Guardian Minister of Kolhapur Prakash Abitkar; State Planning Board Executive Chairman Rajesh Kshirsagar; MLA Amal Mahadik; KDCA President Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje; Ranjit Singh Deol, Principal Secretary, Sports Department; Collector of Kolhapur Dr. Vijay Rathore along with various senior officials and sports administrators were present.

Shri Ambabai Temple Development Plan: Shah-Fadnavis unveiled Rs 1445 crore development works

Under this project, 12.76 hectares (31.90 acres) of government land in Vikaswadi area of Karveer taluka has been transferred to Kolhapur District Cricket Association for development of international cricket stadium and sports infrastructure. The stadium will be built as per the standards set by the ‘Board of Control for Cricket in India’ (BCCI) and the ‘International Cricket Council’ (ICC). It will have a seating capacity of around 35,000 spectators. The government has clarified that the project will not be limited to cricket but will be developed as a ‘multi-sports hub’. Modern facilities will be developed here for sports like boxing, judo, archery, wrestling, swimming, table tennis and fencing.

The project will include a modern pavilion, practice fields, indoor training centre, sports science centre, clubhouse, floodlight system, parking for players and spectators, internal roads, drainage system, solar power plant and state-of-the-art security system. In addition, a cricket museum will also be set up in the stadium complex. According to the government, this project will strengthen the resolve to develop world-class sports facilities in the state and give a new direction to Kolhapur’s rich sports tradition. This will not only boost cricket in the district but also provide modern training facilities to the talented players in rural areas. Also, the boost to sports tourism is expected to help boost the local economy and create employment opportunities. According to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the project will be a significant step towards developing Kolhapur as one of the premier sports hubs in the country.
