Kolkata Knight Riders get Shreyas Iyer for INR 4.4 crore in IPL mock auction, Mitchell Starc makes a comeback for INR 8.4 crore
Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata KKnight Riders to the Indian Premier League title in the 17th season, but the franchise did not retain him for IPL 2025. The move surprised many as he was the leader of the winning squad and deserved to play for the franchise. KKR CEO Venky Mysore revealed that he was their first retention choice, but sometimes things don’t work out as a player wants to test in market price.
He was hinting that Iyer was demanding a significant rise in his pay. It was recorded that Shreyas wanted INR 30 crore, but the decision-makers refused. He had joined the Knight Riders for INR 12.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega-auction
Meanwhile, the three-time IPL Champions conducted a mock auction and went on to re-sign Iyer for INR 4.4 core.
He is expected to fetch more than INR 15 crore in the mega auction. Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are looking for a captain, and he could be one of their targets. Apart from Shreyas, KKR managed to get their former player Mitchell Starc for INR 8.4 crore.
In the IPL 2024 mini-auction, he joined the franchise for INR 24.75 crore. After struggling in some of the games, he gave impressive performances in the crucial matches, including the playoff and the final.
