Korean Entertainment Shakes Up as Baeksang 2026 Announces Unexpected Winners
New Delhi: The 62nd edition of the Baeksang Arts Awards took place in Seoul, celebrating some of the finest achievements in South Korean television, film and theatre. Widely regarded as one of the country’s most prestigious entertainment award ceremonies, this year’s event introduced a major new addition, a dedicated Musical Division created in partnership with the Korea Musical Theater Association.
The new category was launched to mark 60 years of Korean musical theater and became one of the biggest highlights of the evening.
Television Category Dominated by Major Dramas
In the television section, You and Everything Else won the Best Drama award, while The Wonder Coach secured Best Variety Show honours. Our Shining Days was recognized as the Best Educational Programme.
Director Park Shin Woo received the Best Director award for Our Unwritten Seoulwhile Song Hye Jin won Best Screenplay for You and Everything Else.
Acting honors went to hyun bin for Made in Korea and Park Bo Young for Our Unwritten Seoul. Supporting acting awards were presented to Yoo Seung Mok and Lim Soo Jung.
Film Winners Capture Attention
In the film category, No Other Choice took home the Best Movie award. Yoo Ga Eun won Best Director for The World of Love.
Park Jeong Min was named Best Actor for The Uglywhile Mun Ka Young earned Best Actress honors for Once We Were Us.
The Gucci Impact Award was awarded to The King’s Wardenwhich also brought Best New Actor recognition to Park Ji Hoon.
Musical Division Makes Historic Debut
The newly launched musical category saw ARANG win Best Musical, while Kim Junsu received the Best Performer award for Beetlejuice.
The ceremony was hosted by Shin Dong Yup, Bae Suzy and Park Bo Gumcontinuing their long-standing connection with the annual event.
