KR Jayachandran approaches Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail in POSCO case
New Delhi: Actor Koottickal Jayachandran has approached the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail in the POSCO case after the Kerala High Court rejected his bail plea. The actor has been accused of raping a 4-year-old and a case was registered at Kasaba police station in Kozhikode in 2024. The case was registered on a complaint by the survivor’s mother.

KR Jayachandran seeks anticipatory bail
Advocate A Karthik has filed the anticipatory bail petition on behalf of KR Jayachandran in the Supreme Court. The petition is expected to be considered by the court on January 24 or January 25. The actor has been charged with rape and other provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. His first plea for anticipatory bail was rejected by Kochikode Sessions Court, as well as, the Kerala High Court.
What is Jayachandranm accused of?
KR Jayachandran is accused of raping a close relative’s 4-year-old daughter at their mother’s home. As per the report, the child revealed the incident to her grandmother while attending a funeral. A medical examination also reportedly shows injuries suspecting rape. The survivor’s relatives lodged a complaint with the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner, urging swift action against the accused. However, it has been six months since the complaint was filed. It is also being said that the accused is likely to flee the country and there is a threat to the child.
Meanwhile, the police have recorded the statement of the survivor. On the other hand, Jayachandran has previously said that he was “falsely implicated” in the case due to a position he took in a family dispute.
