Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar have been married for years. The couple tied the knot on January 17, 2001. While fans have always seen the duo enjoying their lives and celebrating Karwa Chauth, anniversary, and birthday, there is one dark reality not everyone is aware of. Recently, director Suneel Darshan shared a shocking revelation about the duo’s wedding. He disclosed that the former actress, who married Akshay in 2001, left their home due to rumours involving him and Priyanka Chopra.

They also started working together on their film in 2005. However, due to the hearsay of Akshay being involved romantically with Priyanka Chopra, allegedly affected Akshay’s relationship with Twinkle.

During an interview on YouTube channel Friday Talkies, Suneel shared, “Akshay Kumar was the hero of Barsaat. As the film started, he faced some ‘ajeeb sa problem‘ with his wife. Barsaat had already started shooting with Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. The film was supposed to be shot in one schedule and five days before the schedule, Akshay called me and asked me to meet.”

When the duo met, the actor told him that he committed some ‘blunders’ due to which he had quit the film. “Kuch blunder aise ho chuke thay (He did some blunders). Some rumours about Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar started doing the rounds and Twinkle had left his home. As an actor, you have to be responsible. If your wife has been an actress, she knows everything about the industry and she has also worked with all the big stars. She knew everything,” the director shared.

The director said that he never blamed Priyanka for the situation. “I don’t blame Priyanka Chopra for this. She was doing what was in her own interest,” Suneel said.

Akshay’s departure created an opportunity for Bobby Deol. The filmmaker revealed that Bobby had expressed his interest in working with him and following Akshay’s exit, Bobby was brought on board for Barsaat.

In Barsaat, Bobby Deol starred alongside Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu. The film received mixed reviews and achieved average success at the box office.
