Prayagraj: Indian Railways has prepared a blueprint Kumbh Mela 2025. According to the Railways, an estimated 40 crore pilgrims will visit the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. Scheduled to be held from January to February 26. 2024. Apart from 140 regular trains, the Railways will run 1,225 special trains during the six main ritual bathing days.
According to the Indian Railways, for the convenience of pilgrims wishing to visit Ayodhya and Kashi, the railways have planned to run fast ring MEMU service with stoppages at major stations like Prayagraj, Prayag, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Rambagh etc. For pilgrims wishing to visit Chitrakoot, another ring rail service has been planned, which will cover Jhansi, Banda, Chitrakoot, Manikpur, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Govindpuri and Orai.
How many trains will Indioan Railways run for Kumb Mela 2025
Out of the 1,225 Kumbh Mela 2025 special trains, 825 are for short routes, while 400 are long-distance reserve trains. According to the railways, this is about 177 per cent more than the trains run during Ardh Kumbh 2019, when 533 short-distance and 161 long-distance reserve trains were run. The Indian Railways launched a toll-free number – 1800-4199-139 – to help pilgrims. A Kumbh 2025 mobile app is also being developed which will be supported by a 24×7 call centre, according to the Railways.
How much will Indian Railways spend on Kumbh Mela 2025 prep
An Indian Railways spokesperson said India’s largest employer is implementing infrastructure projects worth Rs 933.62 crore, including Rs 494.90 crore for augmenting passenger amenities and Rs 438.72 crore for construction of road overbridges and underbridges. Work is underway on 79 passenger amenities, including new station buildings and CCTV arrangements. An additional passenger enclosure, which can accommodate 4,000 passengers, will be set up at Prayagraj Junction. Four such enclosures are already available at the station.
Passengers can access 542 ticketing points
Indian Railways will provide 542 ticketing points at stations as well as in Kumbh Mela area. The spokesperson said that these counters can distribute 9.76 lakh tickets per day. The Railway Protection Force is installing 651 additional CCTV cameras of which 100 cameras will be equipped with AI-based face recognition system to identify miscreants and anti-social elements.
