Kuwait Airport Update: Flights started again after Iran attack, big relief for passengers, T1 still closed

After Iran’s drone attack, Kuwait International Airport is now slowly regaining its old pace. Now the movement of flights has increased at the airport and international airlines have started their operations again. This is a news of great relief for the passengers, although the repair of the main terminal (T1) will take time.

Flight operations and current status

General Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, acting director of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (DGCA), said that the airport is now back to advanced operating levels. Currently, about 190 flights are operating daily and many airlines have resumed their services.

It is important for passengers to know that Kuwait Airways is now operating its flights from Terminal 4 (T4) and Jazeera Airways from Terminal 5 (T5). International airlines have started full operations from 18 June 2026, while limited services from Terminal 4 had started from 17 June.

Condition and repair of Terminal 1

Terminal 1 (T1) was heavily damaged in the Iranian attack on June 3, 2026, due to which it is still closed. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), it may take at least a year for this terminal to be completely repaired.

  • 6 June 2026: As a precaution, the airspace was closed and then opened the same day.
  • 17 June 2026: Limited international flights started from Terminal 4.
  • 18 June 2026: International airlines began full operations.
  • 25 June 2026: Oman Air will resume its flights, which will temporarily operate from Terminal 4.

DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi said that maintaining passenger convenience and aviation services is a national responsibility. He told that operations in Terminal 4 will run from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm.

In this entire recovery process, there has been great support from Kuwait’s political leadership, Defense Ministry and Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation.
