Kuwait sounds air raid sirens as Middle East conflict escalates on March 4

Air raid sirens were heard across Kuwait on Wednesday, March 4as the regional security situation continued to deteriorate amid the ongoing Iran–U.S.–Israel conflictaccording to reports from Al Jazeera.

The alerts were triggered early in the day after Kuwaiti air defence systems detected and intercepted multiple hostile aerial targets entering the country’s airspacethe country’s Ministry of Defence said.

Air defences intercept aerial threats

Authorities confirmed that several aerial threats were intercepted and destroyed by Kuwaiti defence systems after entering national airspace.

The activation of sirens is part of Kuwait’s emergency warning system designed to alert residents to potential missile or drone attacks and prompt them to move to safer areas.

Witnesses in parts of Kuwait City and nearby districts reported hearing loud explosions believed to be from interception attempts.

Regional conflict spreading across Gulf states

The incident comes amid a wider escalation in the Middle East following recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targetswhich triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks from Iran against military facilities and allied assets across the region.

Kuwait itself hosts major American military installations, including Ali Al Salem Air Basemaking it a strategically sensitive location during the ongoing conflict.

Over the past few days, explosions, interceptions and sirens have been reported in multiple Gulf locationsincluding Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.

Earlier reports also indicated that drones or missiles were intercepted over Kuwaiti areas such as Rumaithiya, Salwa and Al Jahrawith debris causing limited damage in some locations.

Emergency services have remained on high alert as defence systems continue to monitor the airspace.

The latest sirens underline how the conflict has expanded beyond Israel and Iran, with Gulf states increasingly affected due to their strategic role and presence of international military bases.
