KYC hassle over, big relief to vehicle owners
FASTag: With the beginning of the new year, the central government has given big relief to the common drivers. The biggest problem of KYC related to FASTag, which is necessary for those traveling on the highway, is now almost going to end. NHAI has announced that from February 1, 2026, the process of issuing FASTag for new vehicles will be easier, faster and transparent than before.
What were the problems with FASTag till now?
Till now, while taking new FASTag, people have to repeatedly KYC and KYV Had to face trouble. Verification used to get stuck even after providing correct documents. Many times FASTag used to get blocked in the name of wrong information and even after activation, notices and messages kept coming. For this reason, resentment regarding FASTag was increasing among the common people.
Why did the government remove the condition of KYC?
In view of all these problems, the government has taken a big decision. Now there will be no need for separate KYC or KYV for FASTag of new vehicles. At the time of issuing FASTag, all the information from the RC (Registration Certificate) of the vehicle will be checked at once. With this, people will not have to go through the process again and again and time will also be saved.
What will old FASTag users have to do?
There is also good news for the vehicles which already have FASTag installed. Old FASTag users will not need to do any kind of KYC again. As long as no complaints, irregularities or misuse comes to light, everything will continue as before.
Under what circumstances will re-verification take place?
However, in some special cases re-examination may be done. If FASTag is installed on the wrong vehicle, issued incorrectly or there is a complaint of its misuse, then only KYV will have to be done again. Common and honest vehicle owners do not need to worry about anything.

Complete investigation will be done through VAHAN portal
Under the new rules, banks will now check complete vehicle information from the VAHAN portal. FASTag will not be activated until the details are confirmed from the VAHAN database. If information is not available on VAHAN, the Bank will check on the basis of RC and the same will be the sole responsibility of the Bank.
