Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi have suffered a big setback in the Land for Job case. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court rejected the petition filed by both of them.
Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi have received a big blow from Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court in the Land for Job case. The court rejected the petition filed by both of them seeking documents. The court clarified that the accused do not automatically have the right to get every document.
Court told the scope of asking for documents
The Rouse Avenue court said that demanding additional documents without a solid defense or reason could impact the trial process. According to the Court, the prosecution will present the evidence first, and only on that basis the accused will be required to produce documents. The court also said that rejecting the petition will not cause any harm to the accused. Apart from Lalu-Rabri, the court also rejected similar petitions of other accused.
The Special Judge of the Special Court remarked that the demand for documents by the accused was only an attempt to delay the trial. The judge said that making these documents available together would disorganize the judicial process and complicate the court proceedings. Apart from this, Lalu Prasad’s personal secretary R. Of. The petitions of Mahajan and former railway general manager Maheep Kapoor were also rejected. Mahajan had sought one irrelevant document while Maheep Kapoor had requested for 23 documents to be available.

The Land for Job case pertains to the period between 2004 and 2009, when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister of Indian Railways. During this period, Class IV recruitment took place in West Central Zone of Railways in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. According to the CBI investigation, the employees recruited in this case gave plots or land to the Lalu family and their associates in exchange for appointments. The matter has been disputed since then and is pending in court.
