The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has issued an order that from January 1, 2026, only digital copies of land related documents will be valid. This means that now there will be no need to submit chirkut or apply on paper to get a copy of the land related documents.

Department Secretary Jai Singh said that till now the Raiyats (land owners) used to face many problems to get attested copy of any document. For this, stamp duty had to be deposited along with the application and it took seven to 14 days to get the attested copy. Besides this, the applicant also had to visit the office several times.

According to the order, only the digitally signed copy issued through the online system will now be officially recognized. The advantage of this will be that the tenants will now be able to get their documents sitting at home. Scanned copies of many revenue records are already available on the Bhu Records portal.

Procedure to obtain documents

Rayats can now get the digital copy of the desired documents by paying the required fee through the portal. If the digital copy of any document is not available on the portal, then you will have to apply online for that also. The department will make it available.
